About

This year has been full of changes for the majority of Americans.  We have been forced to stay home for months at a time in most of the country and for many of us, we are also working from home.  This means our daily routines have completely changed and some of us are looking at ways to work on helping our health in times like these. The reason this is such a big deal is that we are now sitting at home more and have more food and drinks available to us than normal.  The extra availability and also the fact that we are now wearing masks on a daily basis is a massive reason that we are looking at our dental health more.  The mask situation has caused many of us to smell our own breath constantly and it has let us know that maybe our dental routine is not up to where it should be.  So today I want to go through just some basic tips that you can add to your routine to help make your daily routine better and to improve your overall dental health.

It is pretty obvious that dental health is important to all of us.  So why is it something that we neglect so much? Well, I think it is simply because we get into habits and simply stick with them.  It is not the fact that we are not working on our health or don't think it's important. So working on building some healthy habits is the best way to go.

The major habit that we all know about and try to keep is brushing our teeth.  Now the ADA suggests that we all brush our teeth twice a day.  Many surveys actually show that the average American only brushes their teeth once a day and it is normally in the morning.  This is something that we need to honestly assess and see if we can increase our habit on.  I think that three times a day is a great amount of brushing and it allows you the flexibility to actually add in tooth-whitening paste without actually having issues of not making your teeth worse.

Now in order to do this, I think that you should make a way to put the habit in place.  I want to make sure that you are actually making good changes in your life.  What I did was set up three alarms on my phone.  I put one in for right after I usually eat breakfast.  That was my first brushing of the day and I do a high in fluoride toothpaste.  This is the protection toothpaste that I use in order to keep my teeth safe.  Then for lunch set another alarm for right before I go back to work.  This allows me time to get one more protective brushing in and get rid of all the lunch food leftover in my teeth that has not been rinsed away.  Now my last brushing of the day I put an alarm for a little bit before I go to bed.  This is a brushing that I usually use a tooth whitening paste on.

Now I put those alarms on for thirty days and that has really helped me stay on track.  Now I am in a good habit of actually brushing my teeth three times a day.  Since I added in the whitening brush I think I am actually getting my teeth a lot whiter than normal. Hope these tips help you this 2020!
